Experience The Palace on Wheels is a glorious train built as a moving abode
for use by the once great Maharajahs and Viceroys of India the luxury coaches
each of which are one of-a-kind hand-built carriages dating from the first
three decades of 20th. century: all have been refurbished in period, with
modern plumbing and air-conditioned. Our itinerary features major historical
destinations.
With most travel taking place overnight, your days are spent
exploring the monuments and sites of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur,
Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Fatehpur-Sikri and Agra. After your day's
activities, return to the train and relax in the beautifully appointed lounge
car, where you may want to sip a cool drink and browse through the former
Viceroy's library while supper is being prepared. After a week aboard this
luxury train our tour concludes with the exhilarating sights of the Taj Mahal,
Red Fort, erotic temples of Khajuraho, holy rituals of Varanasi, and the
majestic city of Delhi.
Itinerary: Day 1 New York/Delhi:
Welcome aboard your flight to Delhi, enjoying onboard hospitality, a great way
to begin your luxury travel to India. Indulge yourself with delicious Indian
and Continental cuisine.
Day 2
Delhi:This evening arrive Delhi, you will be
received and transfered to Hotel Hyatt/Intercontinental/Hanz Plaza.
Day 3 Delhi:
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning free for rest. Afternoon Delhi city sightseeing
tour includes Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Presidential Palace, Parliament House,
Connaught Place, India Gate, Mahalximi Temple and Sikh Gurdwara. This evening
attend Sound and Light show at the Red Fort.
Day 4
Delhi: After breakfast
Delhi sightseeing includes Qutab Minar tower, Jantar Mantar, Diplomatic
Enclave, Mahatma Gandhi Samadhi. This evening transfer to Palace on Wheels
train with a grand welcome ceremony. Depart for overnight journey to Jaipur.
Dinner on board.
Day 5
Jaipur:This morning Palace on Wheels arrives
Jaipur, the pink city of India. Breakfast on board. Discover Hawa Mahal, which
served as a window to outside world to royal harems. You will climb
aboard decorated elephants to Amber Fort, which is a treasure trove
of glorious era. Lunch at Ram Bagh Palace. and the City
Palace, home of erstwhile maharajas. This afternoon visit Jantar Mantar, the
ancient observatory Depart for Jaisalmer around 7.00PM. Dinner on
board.
Day 6
Jaisalmer:Arrive Jaisalmer around 6.15AM.
After an onboard breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of this 12 century city
dominated by its sandstone fort of 99 Bastions. Visit the exquisitely carved
havelis and palaces with their latticed windows, balconies, cupolas and
facades. Lunch on board. Evening visit to the sand dunes and take a camel ride.
Dinner with cultural program at Moomal Palace. Depart at 11.00pm for
Jodhpur.
Day 7
Jodhpur: Breakfast on board, arrive Jodhpur at
8.00AM. Visit the
magnificent Mehrangarh and Jaswant Thada, the Royal cenotaph. Lunch
at Umaid Bhawan Palace. Depart for Sawai Madhopur at around 3.30PM. Dinner on
board.
Day 8 Sawai
Madhopur:This morning arrive Sawai Madhopur,
breakfast on board. Depart by motor coach for safari in Ranthanbore National
Park. The imposing ramparts of the 10th. century forts are surrounded by this
ProjectTiger Reserve. Enjoy the world-class safari. Depart at around 11.00AM
for Chittaugarh. Lunch on board. Arrive at 3.30PM. Visit the Chttiaurgarh Fort,
lauded in legends of valor and chivalry. Dinner on board.
Day 9
Udaipur: Breakfast on board. Proceed to
Udaipur by motor coach. Sightseeing of Udaipur, the city of lakes, palaces,
gardens, temples and forts. Lunch at the Lake Palace Hotel, the former Summer
Palace of the Prince ofMewar. Enjoy the tranquility of lake Pichola. You will visit the
City Palace in all its ancient glory. We drive back to Palace on Wheels at
Chittaurgarh and depart for Agra at 6.30PM. Dinner on board Palace on
Wheels.
Day 10
Agra:Arrive Agra, after breakfast visit Taj
Mahal and Agra Fort. Leave around 11.00AM for Bharatpur. Visit Fatehpur Sikri,
which was once the capital of Mogul India. Following Fatehpur-Sikri you are on
to renowned Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a wonderland of birds at Bharatpur.
Once the preserve of the Maharaja of Bharatpur and now a World Heritage site,
it is home to some 300 species of birds, some flying from as far as from
Siberia and China. Overnight Journey to Delhi.
Day 11
Khajuraho: Fly to Khajuraho, arrival meet
and
transfer to Hotel Taj Chandela/Trident. Afternoon tour of ancient Jain and
Tantric Temples. You'll be amazed by the erotic intricately carved poses
sculptured by the religious devotees, which cover the shrines.
Day 12
Varanasi: Breakfast at the hotel. Fly to
Varanasi Aairport, meet and transfer to Hotel Taj Ganges/Radisson. Afternoon
tour of Sarnath, where Lord Buddha revealed his enlightenment to
Nirvana.
Day 13 Varanasi/Delhi:Early
this morning you'll take boat tour on Holy Ganges River, whose holy waters draw
thousands of pilgrims. This remarkable tour shows the cleansing baths and
burning cremation ghats of Hindu funerals. After breakfast you'll tour the
Hindu temples to which this ancient town is dedicated. Among the famous is
Hanuman Mandir. Afternoon flight to Delhi, aarival meet at the airport. Time
free for shopping and dinner. After dinner final transfer to airport for
homeward bound flight.
Day l4
Delhi/USA Fly homeward bound.

Flight to Kathmandu. Arrival reception and
transfer to Yak N Yeti/Hotel Del,Annapurna.
Day 2 KATHMANDU:
After breakfast, begin the day with morning
tour of Kathmandu city, visiting the Temple of Hanuman, Dhoka Square, The House
of the Living Goddess, Royal Palace, the city markets. Evening free. Afternoon
tour of Patan, a city of ancient architecture, fine arts, and renowned for its'
silver,
copper and bronze work. We'll also visit the Tibetan Handicrafts
Center. Evening at leisure.
Day 3
KATHMANDU:
Morning is free
with an optional (recommended) flight-seeing tour of Mt. Everest available.
Ample time for shopping for antiques and gifts. This afternoon we'll visit
Bhaktapur, the city of religious devotees built in the shape of shell, visit
the Lion Gate, the Picture Gallery, the Golden Gate and the Palace of
Windows.
