Day I NEW
YORK/DELHI:
Welcome aboard
your flight to Delhi, enjoy the regal hospitality by silk sari clad hostesses.
Indulge yourself with delicious Indian and Continental cuisine.
Day 2
DELHI:
This evening arrive in Delhi, where you'll be
received and escorted to Hotel Connaught/ Hotel
Park.
Day 3 DELHI:Majestic Capital Of India
After breakfast set out for an exciting day while we drive past
boulevards with monekys playing by the roadside, cows and other animals minding
their business and people going there way as if all is normal. Next we'll visit
the Presidential Palace, Parliament House, India Gate which is a memorial for
WW2 vetrans of British India, Qutab Minar Tower, Jantar Mantar, the fahionable
Connaught Circus. Red Fort 16th. C. Mogul piece of architecture built of red
sand stones,Chandni Chowk where you will board tricycle rickshaw to visit life
thru long winding narrow alleyways, colorful Mahalaxmi
Temple where you will see firsthand the devotees
offering prayers flowers and sweets to dieties of the sect. you'll also stop at
a Sikh place of worship, which is called "Gurudwara", here you must
take of your shoes and wet your feet at the entrance of the shrine and enter
heads covered, Inside you wil see all devotees chanting and swaying to holy
chanting in unison. From here we'll go to Mahatma Gandhi Samadhi, the site
where Mahatma Gandhi lived and held his fort against the British rule in India.
Day 4
DELHI/SRINAGAR: Jewel in the Crown
Flight to Srinagar is full of excitement as
you will be flying over the Himalayas, some
still capped with snow and glaciers. As you land in the picturesque lush green
valley, you will drive thru winding roads and exotic bazaars to your lake-side
home at a deluxe houseboat. While the adults may choose to relax on the
sun-deck, kids may want to swim, surf or water-ski or just a simple canoe ride.
Well, why not a relaxing family lake cruise and visit little hamlets and
fishing villages through a network of canals and smaller inlets of the
lake.
Day 5
SRINAGAR (Gardens and
Lakes):
Cruise through Dal and Nagin Lakes. Float
through a network of canals to the enchanted gardens of Nishat and Shalimar,
built in the 16th C. by Mogul emperors. In the lap of the Himalayan range and
on the banks of the lake, these fabulous gardens are a feast for kids and
adults alike. With their arrangements of great varieties of flowers, marble
promenades and pavilions with cascading waterfalls and fountains, the gardens
leave one speechless. You will come across local families who create a carnival
like atmosphere in spectacular settings.
Day 6 GULMARG:
Golf, Gondolas, Horse trails &
Himalayan magic
Today, travel by car to Gulmarg, world class
resort at 9,500ft, flanked by Nanga-Parbat, a 28,000 ft.peak. The drive is very
scenic and colorful with sights and that will keep your head spinning in all
directions with panoramic himalayan views and bull carts, horse carts and herds
of sheep and goats caravans sharing the same route. Once you arrive in Gulmarg,
there is choice of either taking pony ride up the hill, or taking a gondola to
the top of the peak at 14,000 ft. or a game of golf for adults and miniature
golf for the kids.
Day 7 SRINAGAR:
Venice of the
East
Today, after a leisurely
breakfast, sightseeing includes the old city of Srinagar, a hilltop hindu
shrine and 500 year old wooden grand mosque, exotic bazaars and in-depth visit
to handicraft centers, where we can experience firsthand how oriental rugs are
weaved. See how various kinds of hand embroidery is done to make shawls,
pashminas and how wood carvers make walnut wood furniture. Besides the sights
and sounds of the street scene are quite intriguing with vivid colors, the
hustle and bustle of men in turbans and women in colorful costumes.
Day 8
PAHALGAM:
River rafting,
horseback or walking trails, panoramas, history
Today it's out to Pahalagam, an
other premier mountain resort, with its pointed peaks and green pastures.
En-route stops will include a visit to 11th Century Temple and Palace of
ancient capital of Kashmir and holy caves at a mountain-top shrine, offering
panoramic views of the valley below. Once we reach Pahalgam, which literally
means" the valley of shepherds", after a picnic lunch by the river
bank area, there is ample opportunity to take long trail walks, go horseback
riding to adjoining scenic lookout spots and river rafting on Lidder River with
great rapids for miles. This evening return to your houseboat.
Day 9 SRINAGAR:Wildlife, sport fishing, bicycling, water-sports
Today is free
for individual or collective activities, visits to the wildlife sanctuary at
Dachigam to view multitude of wild animals and the endangered
"Hangul" antelope, sport fishing, swimming, water skiing or surfing
in the lake, bike riding around town or just being lazy in the sun. This
evening after dinner get down to local rhythm with folk musicians and dance
ensemble. The tunes are catchy and all can join the dancing with local exotic
flavor.
Day 10
SRINAGAR/AGRA:
History of love in jewel encrusted story
book
This morning fly to Delhi from
there we'll drive directly to Agra, home city of the famous Taj Mahal and the
Agra Fort. The ride is very interesting as you will see cross section of tribes
and elephnat and camel caravans, peacock farms, tilling farmers and a whole lot
of excitement along the route. Check-in to hotel Taj View/Clark's
Hotel.
Day 11
FATEHPUR-SIKRI/JAIPUR:
Back to the future 16th.

An early morning breakfast, then
we are out to visit the world
famous Taj Mahal, the white marble, jewel encrusted monument of love that Emperor
Shah Jahan built in the 16th. Century for his beloved queen Mumtaz. You'll then
visit Agra Fort, which served as the final living quarters for the Emperor.
Here is story of love, deceit and power, very intriging to learn from a 16th.
century monument. We continue on to Jaipur with a stop in Fatehpur-Sikri, a
huge Fort complex that served as capital of India before it was moved to Delhi
in 17th. century. Stay at Mansingh Palace Hotel/Trident
hotel
Day
12 JAIPUR: Land of Maharajas fairy tales, Elephant
riding,
Today's
highlight is an elephant ride to the Amber Fort followed by exploration of the
city and bazaars. Afternoon sightseeing at the City Palace, the Albert Museum
and the Observatory. This evening you can join in for a live puppeteers opera
or we recommend a rickshaw around town to really soak in the local flavor, or
take snake charming lessons.
Day 13
/JAIPUR/DELHI:
After breakfast we drive back to Delhi. Here we have time for
optional activitiesfrom shopping for gifts, visit to
Lotus Temple or the National Museum. It's time to Pack for
return journey home with memories of a great experience of a
lifetime.
Day 14 DELHI/NEW YORK:
Early
morning departure from Delhi to New York.
