Travel to Bhutan,
best known to the world today as the last Shangri-La. The few visitors, who
make the rare journey to this extraordinary kingdom, discover that there is no
other destination like Bhutan, land of pure and exotic mysticism. The Bhutanese
people protected this sacred heritage and unique identity for centuries, by
choosing to remain shrouded deep in a jealously guarded isolation. The rich
Himalayan flora and fauna, dazzling white peaks, and lush valleys provide
Bhutan stunning beauty and aesthetic grandeur.
A limited number of people
are now allowed every year for carefully organized Bhutan tours for cultural,
trekking and climbing vacations. Wedged between India and China, Bhutan's
terrain ranges from tropical southern foothills near the sea level to heights
of over 24,000 ft. The travelers encounter the full glory of an ancient land
through its strategic monastic fortresses known as Dzongs, numerous ancient
temples and monasteries which dot the countryside.
